The 2017 Detroit Auto Show brought us the news about the next-generation 2019 Ford Bronco. Namely, the company has officially confirmed the return of this iconic off-road SUV that should be seen in the market as a 2020 model.
It seems that the first inspiration for the exterior of the 2020 Ford Bronco comes from its original 1966 model, but also from its 2004 concept. The new Bronco will keep its boxy and square body design and two-door configuration. However, the four-door version might be available as well. It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the new Bronco will probably share the platform with the next-generation Ranger, which is why these models resemble in so many ways when it comes to appearance. Besides similar exterior features, this platform will help the new Bronco improve its off-road capabilities. This mid-size SUV will should also get an independent suspension system, also seen on the Ranger model. The Bronco should come out as a body-on-frame SUV. Its fully boxed frame will be made of high-strength steel, but the company could also employ some lightweight materials such as aluminum. The front fascia will wear a redesigned grille with a horizontal bar and a massive bumper compared to the one seen on the F-150 model. You will also notice its round headlights that will use the latest LED technology. We expect more information about the new Bronco soon.
The interior of the 2020 Ford Bronco has been a mystery at the moment and there hasn’t been any official information yet. However, its cabin should also be significantly improved and better equipped in terms of materials, technology and safety. It has also been said that the fans will be able to see some resemblance with the Ranger model again. The new Bronco will provide plenty of space for five passengers. The driver will get an information display in the instrument cluster, but also a touch-screen display in the center console. The latest infotainment system should provide features such as satellite navigation, satellite radio, climate control, Bluetooth and others.
At the moment, two options have been speculated as possible under the hood of the 2020 Ford Bronco. The first comes with a 2.7-liter Eco Boost V6 and it should deliver the output of 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. The other version, probably found in higher trim levels, is expected to use a 3.5-liter Eco Boost V6 that hits 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The new Bronco will be mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission. However, a rumor has it that a six-speed manual could be available, too.
2019 Ford Bronco Release Date and Price
The 2020 Ford Bronco could probably make its official debut in January 2018, but its release date shouldn’t be expected before the year 2019. The price range of this off-roader has been estimated at $30,000 – $45,000.
