The fourth generation of the company’s flagship sedan is about to come next year, as 2020 Audi A8. The famous luxury car has been around for decades and it has always been considered as one of the best models in this super premium segment. The new model has already debuted in Europe and we can see a lot of improvements. One of the most interesting novelties to come would be a new plug-in hybrid, which is about to offer superior performances and fuel economy.
2020 Audi A8 Redesign
The new-generation 2020 Audi A8 will come with a bunch of novelties. Just like all large cars from the VW Group, this one will also ride on the new MLB platform. The new architecture is pretty modular and allows a lot of modification. So, it would be a great base for the upcoming hi-performance S8, which is about to lose some weight and get plenty of chassis upgrades. In terms of styling, there are no surprises. The 2020 Audi A8 will continue the evolution that started almost 25 years ago. This carmaker has never been known for radical redesigns of its models and A8 is not an exception at all.
As a flagship model of one of the most famous premium carmakers around, the 2020 Audi A8 will have a lot of things to offer. Besides plenty of room in the cabin, the new model will come with more cargo space as well. This was one of the weakest points of the third-generation model. In terms of luxury, the new model will get a lot of novelties and it should be on par with closest rivals, models like Mercedes S-Class, Lexus LS, and BMW 7 Series. Unfortunately, we won’t see the company’s new Level 3 Self-Driving system in the United States, because of variety of rules from state to state.
Under the hood, the new 2020 Audi A8 will come with a lot of similarities with the outgoing model. Base models will use a familiar 3.0-liter V6 engine, which has a max output of 340 horsepower. Still, the most common engine in this sedan, at least in North America, was a 4.0-liter V8. In the new model, it will have a max output of 450 horsepower. The same engine should come in variant with 530 horsepower, which will be reserved for S-badged models. Finally, the 2020 Audi A8 will borrow a large W12 from the Bentayga. It is a 6.0-liter engine, which is good for about 585 hp. All units will come in a pair with an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, which sends power to all wheels.
2020 Audi A8 Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2020 Audi A8 sometime in the next year. Compared to the current model, it shouldn’t feature bigger changes in price, which currently goes in a range between $82,000 and $115,000, roughly.
