This Insignia-based mid-size car has been redesigned just recently, so we can’t expect bigger changes for the 2020 Buick Regal, which will represent the third-year model of the current generation. Speaking of the generations, there have been six of them so far. The original model came 45 years ago, while the current-generation model came last year. The company has introduced a lot of novelties, including a brand-new styling which is probably one of the model’s strongest points. For the 2020 Regal, things will largely remain the same, though minor tweaks in terms of new color options, interior schemes, and similar things are expected.
The recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties. First of all, there is a new E2 platform, which provides significant weight savings, which go between 300 and 500 pounds, depending on the version. Speaking of the versions, the new generation is far more versatile. There are three body styles in the offer now. Besides familiar 4-sedan, there is a station wagon, as well as a fastback layout. Of course, there is a new styling, which won’t be changed in next few years. Other than a badge, this model is pretty much identical to Insignia. For the next year, the biggest changes should be some new exterior colors. Other than that, things will remain the same.
The interior of 2020 Buick Regal is kind of a mixed bag. If you need a practical car, this model offers a huge cargo volume, as well as plenty of legroom for rear passengers. However, it seems a little bit too expensive, considering the overall interior quality. In this aspect, the Regal definitely can’t compete with class-leaders like Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. The base model comes with a 7-inch touchscreen interface, which looks a little bit outdated compared to the competition. Still, smartphone integration is standard, as well as Wi-Fi hotspot.
Under the hood, the 2020 Buick Regal will continue with two familiar units in the offer. Base models will feature an efficient 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine, which is good for about 250 horsepower. On the other side, there is an optional, performance version which comes with a familiar 3.6-liter V6 unit. This one is good for about 310 hp. Despite plenty of power, this models isn’t too attractive to drive. Models like the Honda Accord and Ford Fusion seem far more dynamic. Also, fuel economy is below average numbers for the class.
2020 Buick Regal Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come, the 2020 Buick Regal will come in usual time. In this case, it means late 2019. We don’t expect price changes either, so base models should go around $25,000.
