2020 Buick Verano

2020 Buick Verano

The company’s entry-level model is about to come with few updates as 2020 Buick Verano. Originally designed for Chinese market, this compact car came in 2010. So far, we have seen two generations. The current version is present since 2015. The company even tried with this model on the U.S. but didn’t have too much success. So, once again we can see it in China only, as well as in Europe under Opel Astra badge. We have already seen one update so far, last year. However, this was a quite minor refresh, so the 2020 Buick Verano is about to come with more interesting novelties.

Exterior Design

Speaking of the base design characteristics, the 2020 Buick Verano definitely won’t change too much. It will continue to ride on a familiar D2XX platform, sharing most of mechanical parts with Opel Astra. The two models are also pretty similar in terms of styling. When it comes to body styles, there are two variants in the offer – 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback. The recent update has brought few novelties in terms of styling, including a new grille. On the other side, the upcoming refresh should be more generous, so we could see some tweaks to the bumpers and lighting groups as well. Also, count on new color options, new wheels designs and similar things.

On the inside, the 2020 Buick Verano probably won’t change a lot. We are about to see a familiar cabin layout, with a pretty attractive dashboard design. Some of the possible novelties are new standard features, though we must say that already the current model is well-equipped. Even base models come with things like 7-inch touchscreen, rearview camera, Bluetooth and USB ports. Higher trims also include things like navigation system, Bose audio, satellite radio and much more.

Unlike the North American version that has been using a large and not so efficient 180-hp 2.4-liter gasoline unit, Chinese versions feature smaller and more economical engines. There is a familiar 1.5-liter engine, borrowed from the Astra OPC, which is good for about 167 horsepower. Also, there is a new 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for about 250 horsepower, which seems like a lot of power for such small car. When it comes to transmission, a smaller 1.5-liter unit comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. On the other side, a bigger 2.0-liter engine works with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Buick Verano Release Date and Price

Although with changes, the 2020 Buick Verano won’t come before the second half of next year. Moreover, we are pretty sure that the company will stick to the last quarter of 2019. When it comes to the price, it will continue in the same range as the current model. This would mean between $26,000 and $40,000, roughly.
