After the recent introduction of the new T1 platform, it became clear that the whole GM SUV lineup will be redesigned pretty soon. One of those models to come completely new is 2020 Cadillac Escalade, which will feature some significant changes and be competitive with the new Navigator once again. It will bigger but lighter, with more interior space, as well as with a new, more efficient V8 engine. Expect to see the new model next year.
The most important thing about the new 2020 Cadillac Escalade will be a new platform, which will bring a lot of benefits. First of all, the new model will be bigger. Count on a 4.7-inch longer wheelbase, as well as an additional 6.5 inches in overall length. Still, the new model will be lighter, thanks to the use of lightweight materials. The new model is about to bring plenty of technical improvements. Moreover, we are also about to see a completely new styling. Expect to see an implementation of Cadillac’s newest design language. Basically, we expect to see a lot of influence from the recent Escala concept. Although a sedan, this model is full of new details that will characterize new 2020 Cadillac Escalade, including almost identical front fascia, headlights, and grille design etc.
There is no doubt that the bigger dimensions are about to bring a lot of benefits on the inside. Naturally, the new cabin will be far more spacious. Expect more legroom for rear passengers, as well as additional cargo volume. The new model will continue as a three-row seater, though the third road is about to come with a new design, which allows them to fold flat. This seems like a big benefit in terms of practicality. Finally, we have no doubt that the 2020 Cadillac Escalade will follow its biggest rival in terms of suspension design. The new Lincoln Navigator comes with an independent rear suspension, which significantly improves comfort for rear passengers. Expect the same from new Escalade.
Another important novelty to come is the engine. Unlike the new Navigator that switches to a six-cylinder engine, the new 2020 Cadillac Escalade will continue in traditional V8 manner. Still, we are about to see a completely new, much smaller and far more efficient engine, compared to the current 6.2-liter unit. It is a new 4.2-liter V8 unit, which comes with a couple of turbochargers. It is highly efficient, so a max output goes around 550 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. When it comes to transmission, count on a new 10-speed automatic gearbox. Latest reports suggest that the company won’t drop the current 6.2-liter engine. It will probably remain available as an option.
2020 Cadillac Escalade Release Date and Price
Although it seems too early to talk about some more precise launch date, it looks like the new 2020 Cadillac Escalade will certainly come in the third quarter of the next year. It will probably cost a little bit higher compared to the current model. Base versions will probably go around $78,000.
