2020 Chevrolet Malibu

2020 Chevrolet Malibu review

Considering the recent facelift, the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu probably won’t feature bigger changes. The famous mid-size sedan is currently in the ninth generation. This version came in 2015 but the company decided to update it already three years later. This refresh has brought a lot of novelties, which will probably characterize this model in the next few years until we see a complete redesign. So, the only possible novelties for the next year are new color options. Rest of the car, including the powertrain, will carry on in the same way.

Exterior

The 2020 Chevrolet Malibu is expected to mimic the recently updated version. The recent update has brought a lot of novelties, mostly in terms of styling. We can see a completely new front end, where a new large grille with split bar dominates. There is also a new front bumper, as well as reshaped headlights. On the other side, rear end continues in the pretty much same way, without bigger modifications. Still, the base design remains the same. This model rides on the same Epsilon II platform, which offers decent dynamics and overall driving experience.

Interior

On the inside, the recent update was only about new features, while the cabin layout remains the same. This mid-sedan offers a decent level of comfort. Compared to its tough rival Ford Fusion, it offers more interior space and better overall comfort. Still, the Fusion has some advantages as well, especially when it comes to dynamics. On the other side, neither of these two can compete with class-leaders that come from Japan. Both Toyota Camry and Honda Accord offer far more refinement. Their cabins are superior in all aspects, including materials quality, tech features, advanced safety systems and much more.

Engine

We will see three engines in the offer for 2020 Chevrolet Malibu. Base models should continue with the same 1.5-liter turbo inline-four engine, which is good for about 165 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. If you are for some more power, there is a potent 2.0-liter turbo engine, which delivers around 250 hp. However, for those who want sporty performances, Ford Fusion seems like a better choice, because of its potent 325-hp V6 unit. Finally, if you prefer good fuel economy, a Camry Hybrid seems like a perfect choice for you. This version is based on 1.8-liter gasoline unit and features combined output of 185 hp and 277 lb-ft and offers superior fuel economy.
