It looks like the company is about to bring back a familiar nameplate, after a 5-year hiatus. The original Avenger was introduced 1995 as a sports coupe. Five years later, it was discontinued. The second generation came in 2007, as a four-door sedan. So, this will be the second time to see a revival of this model after a relatively short break. Once again, the new 2020 Dodge Avenger model will come with significant design changes, maybe even bigger than the first time. It looks like the new model is about to have a lot in common with the new super attractive Alfa Romeo Giulia.
The 2020 Dodge Avenger will practically be a completely new model. It looks like the new version will be a little bit smaller than before. Latest reports suggest that we are about to see a compact sedan thing time. A coupe version is possible as well. It will utilize the Giulia’s new architecture known as Giorgio. This means that the 2020 Dodge Avenger will come with significant design changes. Unlike the previous model, this one will feature rear-wheel drive, which will definitely add a nice dose of sportiness. Also, count on a completely new styling. Dodge current doesn’t have a lot of passenger cars in the offer. The focus is on crossovers and muscle cars, so it seems a little bit tricky to say something more precise about the new styling. Still, expect some kind of influence from iconic Challenger and Charger models.
The interior of the 2020 Dodge Avenger is still a mystery. So far, we know that the new model will most likely come as a four-door sedan, but a two-door coupe is possible as well. The new model will come with compact dimensions, expect legroom and cargo space comparable with models like 2020 Ford Focus RS or 2020 Honda Civic. The 2020 Dodge Avenger should be some kind of sporty sedan/coupe, so expect it to compete with some hi-output oriented models like Focus ST or Civic Type R, though some hi-performance version is possible as well.
Considering that the new 2020 Dodge Avenger will ride on Giorgio’s platform, there is a big change to see some of the engines from Giulia. Most likely, it will be a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four gasoline engine, which comes in two output variants, with either 197 or 276 horsepower. Also, base models could utilize Chryslers 2.0-liter engine, which is good for about 155 horsepower. At the moment, V6 doesn’t seem so likely. When it comes to the transmission, all engines should be coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Dodge Avenger Release Date and Price
