After the recent update which has brought several interesting novelties, the company already thinks about future versions. The famous GT badge has always been reserved for performance models. Besides standard version the company also offers even more powerful and capable versions under Shelby badge. One of these models that will come soon is the new 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 version of the legendary GT500. It will come with a new engine, as well with a bunch of mechanical and visual upgrades.
When it comes to base GT models, we probably won’t see bigger changes for the 2020 Ford Mustang GT. This is a performance-oriented model, which comes in fastback body style only. It features the model’s recognizable design language. On the other side, the new 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 will come with a bunch of new details. In terms of styling, we won’t just see the model’s recognizable stripes. There are also numerous revisions at the front end, including a new bumper, grille, tweaked front fascia etc. Other areas also feature several distinctive details, like rear wing, side skirts, unique exhaust system etc. In terms of mechanics, the new version will come with a new suspension, brakes and other racing components.
Unlike previous generations, the current Mustang actually features a pretty good quality of interior materials. On the other side, the space is pretty limited, especially for rear passengers. A cargo space is modest as well. However, those things usually don’t bother drivers of this sports car. On the other side, the list of standard equipment is pretty generous. You can count on plenty of tech features, as well as on some of the latest safety systems. When it comes to gadgetry, there are things like 8-inch touchscreen, smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth, USB ports, 6-speaker audio system (12 speakers are an optional feature) and much more. Speaking of safety systems, count on a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, parking sensors, forward collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, lane departure warning etc.
The recent update has brought a completely new engine for 2020 Ford Mustang GT500. There is a new 5.0-liter V8 unit, which delivers around 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while a 10-speed automatic is optional. With such a nice power increase, the new version reaches 60 mph in less than four seconds. The 2020 Ford Mustang GT will continue in the same way and compete with other two icons, Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger. Speaking of the new GT500, we expect to see a new 5.2-liter unit under the hood. The same engine powers GT350, but we will see 90-degree pistons this time. Total output should be around 700 hp, which should be enough to be on par with monstrous Challenger SRT Hellcat.
2020 Ford Mustang GT Release Date and Price
