Considering the recent update, the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 probably won’t feature any bigger change until the redesign. The famous hi-performance version came in 2015, a year after the initial launch of the current sixth generation. Three years later, the company has prepared a mid-cycle update. All models followed these changes, including GT350 and new Mustang US version. There is a bunch of visual enhancements, but changes on the inside as well. More important novelties probably won’t come before next redesign.
The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 will most likely feature the same styling as the recently-updated model. To remind you, the 2018 facelift has brought a lot of novelties. Most of them are visual, and most of them are the front. Of course, the focus is on the model’s face, so there are new headlights, slightly smaller than before and with newly LED stripes. Also, you can notice things like a new bumper, hood etc. The rear end comes with models updates, with a new rear bumper and slight revision of taillights. On the other side, this model comes with a bunch of mechanical upgrades which make Shelby GT350 a real performance car. There are special suspension and brakes, as well as numerous modifications that reduce the overall weight of the car. With such upgrades, it can compete with performance cars like Chevy Camaro Z28, Porsche GT3, and BMW M4.
On the inside, the version is very driver-oriented and we have no doubt that the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 will continue in the same way, maybe even with some further enhancements. Compared to base models, it drops a lot of comfort and convenience feature in order to save some weight. The R package makes it a real bare bone, something that can’t be driven too comfortably outside the track. Of course, there is a bunch of unique details that emphasize its racing character, including numerous Shelby badges around the cabin, racing seats and much more.
The heart and soul of this sports car are under the hood. Unlike Camaro Z28,which relies on a Supercharged engine, this one comes with a naturally-aspirated unit. While the other parameters can be compared, the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 will be far more attractive to those who care about sound. This engine has been released a few years ago. It is a 5.2-liter atmospheric V8 unit, which besides beautiful noise also makes plenty of power. A max output goes around 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of power. This is still far away from Camaro’s 650-hp 6.2-liter unit, but things will change when Ford finally release GT500, which should go all away up to 700 horsepower.
2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Release Date and Price
Considering that we probably won’t see any more important change, the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 should come in late 2019. The base version should go around $57,000.
