With such a reputation, the Japanese manufacturer has no other choice than to constantly improve its best-selling model. The iconic compact car is about to come with several changes as 2020 Honda Civic if we can trust the latest reports. It looks like there is a facelift to come. So far, there is no official confirmation from the manufacturer. However, spy photos of the new version leaked a few weeks ago. These clearly show that we are about to see some interesting changes. Of course, the focus will be on the styling. Rest of the car should remain in the same way.
The 2020 Honda Civic is about to get a facelift. Like in every mid-cycle update, we won’t see bigger changes in terms of base design characteristics. The 2020 Honda Civic will continue to ride on the same platform and to feature pretty much same overall shape. On the other side, expect to see plenty of subtle novelties. Judging on spy photos, both ends of the car will receive novelties. At the front end, we should see a new bumper, with new fog lights design, bigger air intakes, and a sharper overall approach. Also, expect to see some rework of the front fascia and grille. On the other side, headlights should remain untouched.
The rear end will also receive several interesting novelties. The testing model wears a camouflage on the rear bumper, so we should see some changes there, probably some mild reshaping. Rest of the rear end should remain the same, though some rework on the lighting group is possible.
The interior has always been a strong point of this compact cars. Enough legroom for rear passengers, generous cargo space, and hi-quality materials are the main characteristics of the popular compact car. This model probably features the best cabin in the class. It seems much more refined compared to rivals like Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra. So, there is not too much space for further improvements. Most likely, biggest changes will be in terms of new standard features. For example, we could see a 7-inch touchscreen standard in the base model as well. Also, some reports suggest Honda LaneWatch become a part of standard equipment.
We probably won’t see changes under the hood of 2020 Honda Civic. Base models should continue with an atmospheric 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit, which is good for about 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. An optional 1.5-liter turbo inline-four comes in three output variants. The base version is good for 174 hp and 167 pound-feet of torque. In higher trims, you will get more powerful versions of the engine, with 180 and 205 horsepower. What separates this engine from the crowd is superior fuel economy, which goes up to 32 mpg in city drive. Finally, a hi-performance 2020 Type-R version comes with a new 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which has a max output of 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
2020 Honda Civic Release Date and Price
The 2020 Honda Civic should come sometime in 2019, probably in the third quarter. We don’t expect bigger changes in price compared to the current mode, which starts at $19,000.
