Originally known as the Accord Crosstour, this crossover/ wagon came to the market in order to compete with the absolute class-leader Subaru Outback. It featured similar design approach but never managed to reach relatively decent sales numbers. So, it was discontinued in 2015, just five years after the initial launch. However, it looks like the familiar nameplate is about to come back. Latest reports suggest that Honda is about to take another try. The new model is about to come as 2020 Honda Crosstour and we should see it sometime in the next year.
We have no doubt that the revived 2020 Honda Crosstour will once again be in a close relation with the famous sedan Accord. Two models will feature completely same mechanics, as well as a lot of the visual appearance. The new model will come probably with the identical front end, which reflects Honda’s newest design language. Pretty much everything to the C-pillar should be the same as on the legendary mid-size car. In terms of dimensions, though, 2020 Honda Crosstour should be a little bit bigger. The wheelbase will be the same but count on few more inches in overall length. Finally, expect to see a completely new suspension design, with higher, crossover-like ground clearance, as well as those styling details common to crossovers, like big plastic fenders and similar things.
Another aspect where 2020 Honda Crosstour will mirror the Accord. We are pretty sure that the new model will feature the same dashboard design. The current-generation Accord offers spectacular interior quality, so we have no doubt that the new crossover will do the same. Also, a list of standard equipment should be pretty impressive as well. Count on various kinds of gadgetry and other tech features. For example, already base models should come with a 7-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, smartphone integration and much more.
In terms of powertrain, the new 2020 Honda Crosstour should be in advantage compared to the Subaru Outback. This mostly refers to the base engine. While Subaru relies on not so modern and pretty big atmospheric engine, Honda will offer its new 1.5-liter turbo inline-four, which is characterized by amazing efficiency. It delivers around 192 horsepower, which is around 20 hp more compared to the Outback’s base engine. On the other side, optional engines will be on the same level. A new 2.0-liter engine from Honda delivers around 252 horsepower, while Subaru’s I6 provides few hp more. Finally, the new 2020 Honda Crosstour will also come in a hybrid version, most likely, which will offer a decent amount of power and spectacular fuel economy.
2020 Honda Crosstour Release Date and Price
Though we are still waiting for the official confirmation, it seems pretty much certain that the new 2020 Honda Crosstour will come next year. When it comes to the price, base models should go somewhere between $25,000 and $30,000.
