It’s been more than eight years since the last Hummer went out from the GM’s assembly in Shreveport. Since then, fans of this military-based off-road vehicle are eagerly waiting to hear any news about its revival. After years of silence, it looks like the company is about to bring back this SUV. The new model could come already in a year or two, probably as 2020 Hummer H1. Several reports suggest it will bring a lot of new design solutions, but keep its original boxy nature too.
In this aspect, we don’t have any doubt about how the new 2020 Hummer H1 is going to look. The new model will stick to the proven recipe. This would mean another Humvee-inspired SUV, which will come with familiar proportions, but also with plenty of new details. Considering designs of previous generations, we probably won’t see bigger changes in dimensions. So, the new Hummer should be a mid-size SUV, which will eventually compete with models like Jeep Wrangler or with the upcoming 2020 Ford Bronco. These two models are characterized by unique appearance as well, though Hummer could have an advantage in this aspect, thanks to its military stance. On the other side, it will have to go on a serious diet, in order to take off all those surplus pounds that characterized previous generations.
With a tight cabin and hard plastics, the interior design was definitely the weakest spot of previous generations. So, the company will have to put a lot of effort to make 2020 Hummer H1’s inside more comfortable. We expect to see more spacious cabin this time, with better ergonomics. Several reports suggest that GM will have a much more luxurious approach this time, so the new Hummer could get things like hi-quality materials, advanced tech features and much more.
There are few engines that could possibly find the place under the hood of 2020 Hummer H1. Of course, those are familiar units from GM. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine could be a good solution for this occasion. In this case, we could expect a max output of around 300 horses and 270 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, a V8 engine would be a perfect choice for some hi-performance version. GM currently offers two engines of this kind. The first one is a 5.3-liter unit with 355 horses and 383 pound-feet of torque. The other one has a displacement of 6.2 liters and delivers around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
2020 Hummer H1 Release Date and Price
The all-new 2020 Hummer H1 could come already in a year or two. When it comes to the price, it is still hard to make some more precise predictions. Once we get more details about the engine and interior feature, it will be much easier to make an estimate. At the moment, some reports suggest a sum of $70,000 but you should take this with a big reserve.
