Lovers of this exotic Italian carmaker are eagerly waiting to see this new model for years. Introduced in a form of concept way back in 2014, the Alfieri is still under development. Although the initial plan was to launch it in 2016, it was delayed mostly because of the company market the Levante as a priority, which makes sense, considering that half of sold Maserati models last year was this crossover. Anyway, the new grand tourer, named after one of Maserati brothers, is about to hit the market in a year or two. We expect the new model to follow the concept’s styling philosophy and offer us plenty of excitement.
When it comes to base design characteristics, there is no doubt that the new 2020 Maserati Alfieri will be relying a lot on a concept from 2014. The new model will come in a form of a grand tourer. Interestingly, this segment is becoming more and more popular these days. We expect to see a similar style philosophy as on the concept. Expect similar overall shape, though some detail updates are certain, considering the time gap between the concept and production model. In any case, the new model will be a genuine representation of the iconic carmaker. It will enter one highly-competitive segment, led by models like Porsche 911, Mercedes SL, Lexus LC etc. A convertible version is expected to come soon after, probably with the 2021-year model.
While the styling of new 2020 Maserati Alfieri seems quite easy to presume, the interior design is still a complete mystery. Back in 2014, the concept version came with an ultra-luxurious, retro-inspired layout. However, it doesn’t seem very likely for a production model, even though we are talking about Maserati. Most likely, the new model will take a lot of inspiration from Levante, though the overall approach should be a little bit more luxurious. On the other side, expect to see pretty much the same list of tech features, which will include things like 8.4-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, panoramic sunroof, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, premium Bowers & Wilkins audio system etc.
The 2020 Maserati Alfieri’s powertrain is another mysterious aspect of the car. Previous plans included an offer of three V6 engines in the offer, with either 410, 450 or 520 horsepower. Still, newer reports suggest something completely different. Most likely, the new sports car will come in some form of an electrified powertrain. Will it be a plug-in hybrid or all-electric, we can’t say at the moment.
2020 Maserati Alfieri Release Date and Price
The all-new grand tourer is in process of development for a pretty long time and it should finally come in about a year. It will compete with models like Porsche 911, so the base price will probably go around $100,000.
