According to our reliable insiders, the famous Japanese carmaker is about to revive its sports car lineup. Besides redesign of the current-generation 370Z and GT-R, we will see another legendary nameplate in the future. It looks like the company is bringing back the legendary Silvia coupe, which will, in this case, come as 2020 Nissan Silvia S16. The new generation of the sports car is about to come back after many years of waiting. Last time we saw Silvia nameplate was in 2002. This clearly indicated that the new model is about to come with significant improvements compared to the previous S15 models.
In terms of exterior design, the 2020 Nissan Silvia S16 is about to come with a completely new platform. The new model will utilize a lot of lightweight materials. Most likely, we will see an all-aluminum body, which makes this sports car super-easy, which guarantees excellent handling, agility, and overall performances. In terms of styling, expect to see an application of the company’s newest design language. A V-Motion grille seems certain, though with numerous tweaks. Expect to see a familiar “S-Lighting” badge instead of Nissan’s regular logo. In terms of the body style, the new model will come in a 2-door coupe layout, though a convertible seems very likely as well.
This aspect of the 2020 Nissan Silvia S16 is still a big mystery. We can’t say how the new interior will look like, though there is no doubt that the new coupe will take some inspiration from the company’s supercar GT-R. Expect to see a sporty, driver-oriented cabin, full of racing gadgetry. It won’t lack in terms of advanced technologies either. In terms of practicality, a 2+2 layout won’t be of a great help, since there won’t be too much legroom on rear seats, just like it’s the case with even bigger models like Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang etc. The truck capacity will be modest too. Still, we don’t believe that these things would bother someone who searches for a dynamic sports car.
Just like previous generations, the new 2020 Nissan Silvia S16 will be relying on four-cylinder units. Most likely, there will be two variants in the offer. Base models will probably feature somewhere around 200 horsepower. On the other side, Nismo versions will probably come with a twin-turbo engine, which will be capable of making somewhere between 275 and 300 horsepower. Of course, power will be sent to rear wheels, so the 2020 Nissan Silvia S16 should be another Japanese drift hero. Of course, an AWD layout with spectacular handling will be in the offer as well.
2020 Nissan Silvia S16 Release Date and Price
We are still waiting for the official confirmation of the 2020 Nissan Silvia S16. Most likely, the launch date should be scheduled for the second half of next year. According to some estimations, base models will probably go around $30,000.
