Four years after the initial launch, it looks like the famous carmaker prepares another update of its entry-level crossover. This will be the second update so far. The first one was two years ago when the 2016-year received a bunch of subtle changes. This time, changes will be more intense. We are about to see a classic facelift, which will include various kinds of visual changes, as well as some modifications under the hood. Still, the biggest novelty will probably be an introduction of a new GT3 RS version, which will come with plenty of unique characteristics, including a new engine.
We expect to see a classic facelift for this occasion. So, there is no doubt that the 2020 Porsche Macan will come with a bunch of novelties. Of course, the focus will be on the front end. Some of the new parts will be new grille and a new front fascia. Other than that, the changes will be quite subtle. This isn’t surprising, considering that this manufacturer has never been characterized by some radical changes. On the other side, the new GT3 RS version will receive additional tweaks. Expect to see a completely new bodywork, which will involve new bumpers, side skirts, spoiler and several other details that will emphasize model’s super-fast character.
Interesting changes on the inside will come too. At the moment, we know that the new version is about to get some subtle changes on the dashboard. While the overall layout is about to remain unchanged, the new dash will come with a new touchscreen and some button reconfigurations. Basically, it should be something similar that we can see in new Panamera. Other than that, we should see additions in term of new standard features for each trim level. In terms of materials quality, the 2020 Porsche Macan should continue to be a class leader, above models like Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, Jaguar I-Pace, Land Rover Discovery Sport and many other compact luxury crossovers.
The biggest novelty for the 2020 Porsche Macan will be the introduction of a new GT3 RS trim. This badge is reserved for the fastest models from Porsche. This crossover should use the same beautiful-sounding 4.0-liter V6 engine that can be found under the hood of 911 GT3 RS. It features a max output of 500 horsepower and 336 pound-feet of torque, which is an amount that should guarantee a 0-60 sprint in less than 3.5 seconds.
Rest of the engine lineup will continue without changes. The base engine will be a familiar 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for about 252 horsepower. The next one in the offer is a 3.0-liter V6 with a max output of 340 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque. Finally, there is a bigger 3.6-liter V6, which is good for about 400 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The same engine is available in a version with 435 hp.
