While everyone is talking about the upcoming Taycan, engineers of the famous carmaker from Stuttgart are also working on an update of its flagship model, if we can trust the latest reports. The mighty fastback is about to come with a mild refresh as 2020 Porsche Panamera. At the moment, detailed information is still unavailable, but we will probably see some minor tweaks to the exterior design, as well as some new features on the inside. On the other side, the engine lineup should carry on in the same way.
The rumored update will be mostly about tweaks to the exterior. The 2020 Porsche Panamera will receive several new details. Just like it is usual for mid-cycle updates, most of these changes will be at the front. We should see tweaks to headlights, grille, bumper and similar areas. Rest of the car should remain largely the same. Still, don’t be surprised with some new color options and wheels design. All in all, the changes should be subtle which seems logical, considering the company’s policy and the fact the engineers are probably busy with the development of new Taycan.
The 2020 Porsche Panamera will offer an ultra-luxurious cabin, just like it is the case with the current model. However, this update probably won’t bring changes on the inside. The interior will include a familiar dashboard design, though new color schemes are something that sounds quite likely. Also, expect to see a bunch of new standard equipment. Some of the things that could find their place on a list of standard features are power rear seats with memory function, rear touchscreen interface, massaging seats, 4-zone climate control etc.
The powertrain lineup is about to remain the same, so expect a pretty wide offer of engines. Base models will come with a familiar 3.0-liter V6 unit, which is good for about 330 horsepower. Moving next and you will find a new-generation V6 engine, which features slightly smaller displacement (2.9 liters) but much more power. A max output goes around 440 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The same engine is available in a combination with an electric motor. In this case, max output goes up to 460 horsepower. If you prefer V8 power, go for a familiar 4.0-liter engine, which delivers around 550 horsepower. This unit also comes in electrified version. When paired with an electric motor, it delivers amazing 670 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque.
2020 Porsche Panamera Release Date and Price
The 2020 Porsche Panamera will come sometime in the next year. Though it is still early to speculate about some more precise launch date, we are pretty sure that the new model will have a premiere on some major car show before the launch. We don’t expect changes in price, so $85,000 for the base model seems likely. This model is characterized by an extremely wide price range. So, it’s no wonder that top models go all away up to $195,000. For the similar price, you should look for the BMW 750, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Cadillac CTS-V.
