The 2020 Toyota Alphard is about to receive a facelift, according to the latest reports. This minivan is hugely popular in Japan and it is also available on markets like Russia or Malaysia. We have seen three generations of it so far and the current version is on the market for about three years. So, next year will be a perfect time to see some more important updates. According to the latest reports, this update will be more than just a facelift. Besides styling changes, we are also about to see some novelties under the hood.
Just like every facelift, this one will also be pretty much all about visual updates. The 2020 Toyota Alphard is about to receive several changes. Of course, base design characteristics will remain the same, but there are many new details to come, especially at the front end. In this area, the new version will get closer to the brand’s new design language, though we can’t say it will completely follow it. The Alphard has always featured a lot of distinctive details through its history and we have no doubt that the new version will continue in the same way. As we’ve already mentioned, most of the changes will come at the front end, where we expect to see a new grille, tweaks to headlights and bumpers and few more things. Rest of the minivan should remain unchanged.
Although a minivan, this model comes with plenty of luxury. For this update, we probably won’t see bigger changes in terms of dashboard design and similar things. On the other side, a list of standard features should be expanded. Expect to see the latest gadgetry and other tech features. This also refers to Toyota’s new Safety Sense package, which will become part of the standard equipment with this update. It includes a lot of advanced safety and driver-assist systems, such as Pre-Collision System, Lane-keeping Assist with Lane Departure Alert, Advance Car Start Notification function, as well as system that detects pedestrians even at night now as well as cyclists during the day.
The upcoming update will also bring some changes under the hood. The model’s top-range engine, a large 3.5-liter V6, will get a nice power boost. With 20 hp more, a total output will go all away up to 300 horsepower. Other than this V6 unit, the base Alphard will continue with a familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is good for about 180 horsepower. Finally, there is a hybrid version in the offer, which is good for about 150 hp.
2020 Toyota Alphard Release Date and Price
The 2020 Toyota Alphard should have its premiere early in the next year. We don’t expect bigger changes in price, so base models should go around $50,000.
