The recent redesign of Toyota’s most popular crossover has brought a lot of novelties, but that doesn’t mean that 2020 Toyota RAV4 won’t come with further improvements. The new generation of this compact crossover came just recently. You can notice a brand-new look, but also various mechanical improvements. Also, there is a completely new cabin. On the other side, the engine lineup somehow didn’t receive many novelties, and that is the aspect where we expect to see changes for the 2020 RAV4. Expect to see this model in the second half of next year.
The recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties, so 2020 Toyota RAV4 should continue in the same way. There is a completely new styling, which is not just more attractive, but also makes this crossover look much more mature. Another great thing about the fifth generation of this compact crossover is a new architecture. Like all new models from Toyota, this one also rides on the new TNGA platform. It brings a lot of improvements. The first thing that comes to our minds is rigidity, which is on a significantly higher level. The new model is also lighter for about 5 percent. Thanks to the new chassis, driving dynamics are also on a significantly higher level. Considering all these improvements, bigger changes for the 2020 Toyota RAV4 seem unlikely. We could see new color options and similar things. Other than that, probably not.
Horizontal lines dominate inside this compact crossover, which makes it look upscale. Materials quality is amazing, while the dashboard seem very mature. Compared to the previous generation, the new one is more spacious, which puts it on par with class-leaders like Honda CR-V 2020, Mazda CX-5, Nissan Rogue, 2020 Ford Escape etc. Of course, there is a generous offer of standard equipment, which includes a large 7-inch touchscreen as well (bigger 8-inch screen is also available). Among standard features are also things like automatic climate control, smartphone integration, as well as a bunch of advanced safety systems. The 2020 Toyota RAV4 could get few additions in terms of standard features, as well as new color schemes.
This redesign hasn’t brought bigger changes under the hood so far. The base model continues with the same, though boosted, 2.5-liter gasoline engine. Though the company didn’t release exact numbers yet, we expect around 200 hp. Of course, there is a hybrid version, the same we can find under the hood of the new 2020 Camry. It combines the same four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, which ensures total output of 208 horsepower. Still, the strongest point of this version will be fuel economy, which should go over an amazing 50 miles per gallon. The 2020 Toyota RAV4 should bring another engine in the offer. According to some reports, it will be a 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which delivers around 235 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Gasoline models will use an 8-speed automatic transmission, while a hybrid will come with CVT.
2020 Toyota RAV4 Release Date and Price
The 2020 Toyota RAV4 should come sometime in the second half of the next year. Base models will go around $25,000.
