The iconic sports coupe returns. One of the Toyota’s most famous sports cars is about to come back next year, after a long break. This legendary model appeared for the first time in 1978. All versions so far were accepted well, both by experts and fans. We have no doubt that the new model will be a decent successor, especially if we consider cooperation with another famous carmaker, BMW. These two companies shared their engineering experiences, so there are big expectations from this joint venture. According to the latest reports, the new 2020 Toyota Supra could come pretty soon, earlier than most of us expected.
Toyota has finally presented the new Supra like we waited 4 years for it! We know from the start that FT1 concept will be new Supra, but Toyota took forever to put on the market.
From the latest video, we can see what it will look like, and the official price has been announced. So, if you want to purchase new Supra you will have to be “lighter” for $50920 ( MSRP starting ). Premium version goes up to 53,990, and the Launch Edition will set you back a cool $55,250.
Toyota made a dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with the new 2020 Supra A90, as they call it. We will see will it appear on screen, maybe in the new Fast and Furious, maybe against famous new 2020 Dodge Demon.
Speaking of the base design characteristics, 2020 Toyota Supra will have a lot in common with the new BMW Z4. These two models will share the platform, though both companies promise completely different driving experience. After all, Z4 is a roadster, while the new Supra has been strictly marked as a coupe, just like its predecessors. In terms of styling, this model will go retro, if we can judge on teaser pictures. The new 2020 Toyota Supra will take inspiration from the FT-1 Concept, which had its presentation four years ago. This would mean a lot of curves, long hood, horizontal headlights and large air intakes. On the rear end, the most notable will be a new ducktale-like spoiler, which makes this coupe look almost like a fastback.
So far, there is no available information about the interior design. The company keeps all details as secret so we can only speculate at the moment. There is no doubt that the new model will come in a two-door coupe layout and that the rivalry with Nissan will be reborn. Of course, we are talking about Nissan GT-R as the biggest rival. The current generation of this sports car is quite old and the latest reports suggest that the new version won’t come so soon. This could be a great chance for 2020 Toyota Supra to “steal” some of Nissan’s customers and establish its position in the market. Of course, there are several other competitors in the segment. Some of the potential rivals could be new generations of muscle cars Chevy Camaro and Ford Mustang 2020, as well as some Europeans sports cars, like Audi A5 or even BMW 4 Series.
Under the hood, we will find a BMW’s familiar straight-six gasoline unit. It is a 3.0-liter I-6 engine, used for numerous models of the Bavarian carmaker. Thought the exact numbers are still unavailable, we expect that the engine will be tuned to around 335 horsepower for this occasion. Of course, rear-wheel drive will be the only option, just like it was the case with previous generations. When it comes to transmission, expect both manual and automatic gearboxes in the offer. And it will go from 0-60 in 4.1
SECONDS, and has the top speed 155 MPH.
