The first generation of this mid-size truck is aging and it seems natural to see 2020 Volkswagen Amarok completely redesigned. The original model is present since 2009, which seems like a pretty long time, especially if we consider that most competitors have been redesigned in the last few years. With the new design, 2020 Amarok should become more competitive. There is no doubt that VW engineers will give their best to correct most of the weak points that can be noticed on the current-generation model. Of course, expect to see a completely new styling, interior design and much more.
So far, the biggest advantage over the competition was size. This truck features quite bigger dimensions compared to other models in the class. However, the styling definitely exposes its age. So, that would be the aspect where we can expect most of the changes. The new 2020 Volkswagen Amarok should be adapted to the company’s newest design language. In practice, this means a bunch of new details, though we don’t have any doubt that VW will stick to its conservative approach. We expect to see a new platform, which will bring improvements that will finally make this truck comparable to the class-leader Hilux, which is well-known for its exceptional sturdiness and reliability.
Even the current-generation Amarok feature pretty good interior design for today’s standards, despite its age. In terms of legroom and overall interior space, this truck is a class-leader. Considering the vehicle size, this isn’t surprising at all. So, this redesign should bring mostly aesthetic improvements. This would mean a new dashboard layout, new materials, color schemes, but also new tech features. The 2020 Volkswagen Amarok should get novelties in terms of multimedia, which will include a new infotainment system, new connectivity options and much more. When it comes to cab designs, we expect to see both single and two rows of seatings. Also, we hope that workhorse versions will be more affordable.
The current version comes with three engines in the offer. There is one gasoline unit, with a displacement of 2.0 liters and max output of 160 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. Of course, the offer includes the company’s best engine, a 2.0-liter TDI unit. This oil-burner comes in several output variants, in a range between 120 and 180 horsepower. For those who prefer bigger displacements, there is a reliable 3.0-liter TDI unit 220 horsepower. 2020 VW Amarok all engines should continue in the next-generation model, though we expect to see few tweaks that will bring improvements in terms of both power and efficiency. The latter one seems to be more important, considering that competitors like Mitsubishi L200 and Isuzu D-Max feature engines that offer superior fuel economy while keeping the same level of working capabilities.
