Next year, even these days, when it’s all about models for the global market, there are vehicles like Harrier that are designed for local markets. Toyota is well-known for such a policy, especially when it comes to the domestic market. This is a perfect example and it looks like the 2021 Toyota Harrier will undergo significant changes.
The current generation has been around since 2013 and it looks like it’s time for changes. The model has been updated a couple of years ago, but now it’s time for a complete overhaul. The all-new model will hit the market next year.
- Completely redesigned
- Efficient powertrain
- Luxurious cabin
- Loads of tech and safety features
- Not a particularly spacious interior
- High price tag
This is a pretty exclusive crossover, which is available only in Japan and a couple more Asian countries. It is a pretty luxurious model, despite it doesn’t wear a Lexus badge. We find this model to have most things in common with the Lexus RX although it actually shares mechanics with RAV4.
The 2021 Toyota Harrier will be some kind of overture for the popular North American crossover, which is about to hit the market soon as well. The 2021 Toyota Harrier will come with significant novelties. Once again, we count on a pretty distinctive styling, which doesn’t have many things in common with the rest of Toyota or Lexus lineup.
On the other side, mechanics will be completely adapted to the company’s latest design and tech solutions, so the new model will ride on a new TNGA architecture.
Although a relatively small crossover, the current generation packs three rows of seats, so we have no doubt the 2021 Toyota Harrier will continue in the same way.
Still, the new model will probably get a couple of inches in wheelbase, so we may see a little bit more space in this case. Of course, we also count on completely new dashboard design, with even more opulence and latest tech goodies.
When it comes to the powertrain, we don’t expect surprises. The base 2021 Toyota Harrier should come with Toyota’s familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four with around 235 horsepower.
OF course, we count on a hybrid version as well. We presume the new model will use the same system as the new RAV4. This would mean a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in a combination with two electric motors. The total output should go around 220 horsepower.
2021 Toyota Harrier Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2021 Toyota Harrier most likely in the second half of the year. When it comes to the price, base models should go around $40,000.
