2024 BMW Urban X Release Date and Expected Price. If you ask carmakers, it looks like there are never enough SUVs and crossovers on the market. For example, BMW seems to have a completely filled lineup, with models of all sizes. However, the Bavarian management believes there’s still a place for another, very small crossover. According to the latest reports, that model will arrive already in the next year, as the 2024 BMW Urban X. It will be slotted under the current entry-level model, the X1.
The new 2024 BMW Urban X is expected to combine the company’s design language with lots of funky details, typical for vehicles of this size. On the other hand, the mechanical aspect will have a lot in common with X1 and X2 models, while the powertrain lineup will be mostly about small displacement and efficiency. We expect that the new model will be offered in Europe, though a few more markets around the world are possible as well.
2024 BMW Urban X Engines
As we said, the 2024 BMW Urban X will be small and therefore, we expect to see small and efficient units. Most likely, base models will come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder unit, which puts out around 140 horsepower.
Naturally, we count on different forms of electrification, starting from a hybrid version. Most likely, we will see a setup based on the same three-cylinder engine, with an additional electric motor for better performance. An all-electric version would be expected at some point, though it probably won’t be ready for the initial version. Currently, there aren’t many details about the all-electric setup, though some sources speculate about the max range of around 240 miles.
2024 BMW Urban X Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 BMW Urban X will be the company’s new entry-level crossover. It will be slotted below the X1 and if we can trust the latest reports, it will be 4.1 meters long. This automatically puts it in rivalry with models like Audi Q2, as well as Citroen’s luxury model called DS3 Crossback.
In terms of mechanics, we expect to see a familiar design approach. As we already mentioned, many parts should be shared with X1 and X2 models, which means that the new model will be based on BMW compact platform, which also underpins various Mini models. In any case, this means that you may count on a front-wheel-drive setup, as well as on a transversally mounted engine.
In terms of styling, we count on a classic crossover shape, combined with a couple of funky details. The front end should take inspiration from the aforementioned models, though a couple of exclusive details are expected as well.
Interior
It’s still early to talk about interior details, but we can speculate about some basic things. For example, although this segment is almost always characterized by lots of unique design solutions, we also expect to see a decent portion of design solutions borrowed from other models. This particularly refers to tech features, as we expect to see a familiar setup of massive infotainment and instrument cluster screens, which would come integrated, in the same fashion as those found in the iX electric SUV.

Considering the model’s expected size, we don’t believe there will be much space on the inside. The second row won’t be particularly generous with passenger room, while the cargo area won’t be large either. On the other hand, the front seats should be spacious, massive and supportive.
